- Racing tires typically weigh approximately 20-25 pounds each with four tires changed in six to 10 seconds.
- Racing fuel (unleaded, 100 octane) is added in 10-12 seconds. Racing fuel is not a crude oil based fuel. It has a much higher boiling point than consumer pump fuel.
- During most classes of races, crew members must wear full fire suit, gloves and goggles and headsets for radio communications. Helmets are optional, but seldom worn. The fueler and vent man (if separate) must wear full fire suit, balaclava, gloves and helmets.
